Below are the best picks from the Fall 2019 show in London, just a week ago.
Victoria Beckham previewed her brand’s Autumn/Winter 2019 collection during London Fashion Week at the Tate Britain gallery. In her return to London Fashion Week, Beckham graced the runway with her body-conscious silhouette. Beckham describes this new collection as ‘a lady, but not particularly lady like‘. During the show, there was plenty of leopard print, plunging necklines, and some unexpected twists. The signature bell-bottomed trouser made an appearance, as well as the trend for checks.
JW Anderson has always presented collections that stand out throughout the fashion month, and this year is no exception. The dresses in this collection were the highlight of the show, ranging from full-feathered shocking pink dress to chiffon scarves hanging at the knee. Other than dresses, Anderson’s signature distorted architectural shapes also made an appearance in form of a jacket with wing-like shoulders, bell tops paired with bell skirts, and voluminous trousers made of yardage fabric.
Simon Rocha showcased a rich and feminine collection on London Fashion Week 2019. This season, Rocha created a sense of femininity through the shimmering embroideries, colors, and silhouettes. Floral-printed fabrics appeared throughout the runway; some combined with a romantic pink color. Inspired by the bourgeois, underneath transparent tulle dresses were layers of lingerie. The show is also decked with bejeweled underwire, sequined dresses, transparent coats, and tiaras.
Burberry—a brand known from its British heritage, changed up the look from signature beige-colored pieces into something more modern and youthful in the first half of the show. Massive puffer coats, deconstructed pieces, slip dresses, and bold pieces were featured on the first part of the show for a younger-oriented looks. A more tailored second half of the show still features a deconstructed silhouette—putting capes and vests atop of traditional trench coats and cashmere sweaters with reshaped neckline.
